WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) today released the following statement on the agreement between Illinois and Missouri on the Mississippi River Bridge:
"The agreement reached by Governors Blagojevich and Blunt is a significant development for the people of Illinois and the entire St. Louis region. I am relieved that both sides now agree that tolls will not be necessary to partially fund the bridge's construction, which I had opposed from the start. I commend the Governors and Congressman Costello for their determination to make this project a reality."
